“Truly this was the perfect place to stay! I feel like we won the lottery with this place. Her condo is part of a larger resort, so we had access to the beautiful swimming pools and hot tubs a few minutes walk away. The resort also has a water slide! (Very important if you have children :) The ocean is viewable from her condo, and it’s perfectly located. Close to the airport, and it’s an hour from Waimea State park, and an hour from Haena state park, and it was about 30 minutes or less to all the other activities we did (mountain tubing, ATV riding, helicopter ride, zip lining). Her condo is even more beautiful and comfortable than the pictures convey. It was clean and tidy, and the bed was huge and comfy. We loved the couch and huge tv. Kathy/Tanya were incredibly responsive to questions. I felt like their priority was making sure my son and I had a good time and enjoyed our stay. I miss this place already and hope to come back some day!”

“The little apartment is beautiful, just steps from the beach. The condominium is well kept, the pool, jacuzzi, bar, all great. The location at Kapa’a is the best. Right on the east side is in the middle of the island so you can access the north and south/west fast and easy. Just 15 from the airport. We had a great time! Highly recommended.”

“We really enjoyed Kathy‘s place! It is directly, and I mean directly oceanfront And this is important to me,..And very close to get to the sand, within a minute or two. The e only drawback is there is a slight incline to get down to the sand. It’s not bad..,kids could do it easy.. and healthy people easy. But it might be hard for anyone that had a disadvantage of any kind. That being said, the beach is gorgeous. The area is gorgeous. The swimmable beach is to the left, a small walk. But the beach right in front of you has an overflow dunking area, safe from the rocks. A perfect place to set up your chairs and umbrella (provided by her) and just relax.. Kathy‘s place is also well located. There was the most delicious “Passion Bakery” directly across the road. Famous for its Malasadas, and great coffee and lots of great breakfast dishes/options . Also “Lava Lava” a restaurant just a five minute walk, has the most beautiful view, great food and free music every night.”

“Hi Kathy, We had a fantastic stay! We loved the location and gave you 5 stars all around. Thank you! Just a few minor tips for improvement: -update the sign on front door with correct check-in check-out times -change batteries in some of the remote controls -when windows are closed the air inside becomes very stale and it almost smells moldy. If there is anything that could be done about this I would try. -provide a few more hanging options for towels etc outside since hanging on chairs isn’t allowed. Inside nothing would dry properly.”

“If you are looking for the most perfect, tropical and laid-back vacation location, think no further than his spot! The third-floor room overlooking the ocean was the envy of everyone else in the Islander by the Beach complex! It’s in the perfect corner spot on the north side and walkable to the Lava Lava Beach Club where I had Thanksgiving dinner and also watched all the NFL games. Perfect bar on the beach next to the water, all open-air. Super easy check-in with a keypad entry. Owner is extremely proactive and responsive. There was a beach chair there for me to use and there are lounge chairs all along the oceanfront to use. The pool and hot tub and bar are footsteps away in the middle of the complex. You can use the sidewalk in front of the complex to go on morning walks and you are across the parking lot from a huge marketplace with restaurants and shops and grocery store. Everything you can possibly need! Four stars!”

“This is the 2nd time I’ve stayed at Islander on the beach in the Hawaii building. It has a view of the water but not direct on the boardwalk so it’s much more private. Being on the 3rd floor you can leave the slider door open and hear the ocean. This unit was great with having the extra table holding the microwave it gave you more counter space by the sink. The refrigerator was big enough to hold our snacking foods but we ate dinners out. We didn’t use the bbq’s near the pool. Safeway is only a mile north and the shaved ice next to ABC store uses natural fruits instead of artificial. we don’t recommend the store Big Savings it was actually more expensive. Coconut marketplace is right behind you and has lots of great shopping options. This unit doesn’t have beach chairs but there is a rental place next to Sleeping giant grill (great food) that rents chairs and other great beach stuff. The beach wasn’t great for swimming but 1 mile south is Lydgate beach and it’s awesome. We did a day trip up to Waimea canyon. Go early (left at 7:30am) to get up there before clouds come in. We did the tubing with Kauai Backcountry and loved it. Overall I highly recommend this condo. Bed was comfortable and it was very clean. The units are older so just expect some wear and tear.”

“We enjoyed our stay at Kapaa Sands! The unit was in a central location next to many restaurants and shops. Farmers market was active a couple of days during our stay and was a several block walk away. We loved walking to the Lava Lava Beach Club and swimming at the beach there. We thought it was the most peaceful place to post up for the day, not too crowded and the waves were fun for swimming. This is a great stay for people who are early risers and get after their day. However, if you’re a light sleeper bring earplugs as there are roosters that like to crow late in the night and really early in the morning, we also had a colicky baby staying in the unit next to us for the last few nights we were there, so we were glad we came prepared with earplugs. Also bring a sleeping mask as the early morning light is bright and the curtains don’t block out any light. All those things are out of the hosts control though-we thought the host was lovely, very responsive and kind.”

“This was perfect for our 8 days. As someone noted, it is small, but we kept things neat and it worked for us. We loved that we could walk right out onto the beach, and just a little way down was nice snorkeling. It was close to Lava Lava and the Coconut Market. We also enjoyed walking down to the Sheraton’s Crooked Surf and it was a quick drive to Oasis on the Beach – ukelele player on Wednesdays was great! We did a lot of hiking and there were trails nearby. It was also not too bad to drive to Princeville and hike a little north of there. The main attraction was the morning sunrise…spectacular!”

We grilled our dinner using the resort’s grills on the Sunday we were there and it felt extra special to eat surrounded by the tiki light torches while listening to the crashing waves. We loved how centrally located this unit was since we took advantage of exploring all parts of the island. It was the perfect spot, I promise. Do yourself a favor and don’t delay. You can rest assured that you will be taken care of when you stay here.”

“I am very impressed with the staff. I called for maintenance because when we arrived the toilet wasn’t flushing properly. He was here in 15min. I am not kidding. That fast. The sreen door lock was not working and I wanted to leave the door open at night. It was fixed right away. We locked our selves out one evening on the way to dinner the house keeper helped us get in within minutes. We weren’t late for dinner reservation. I love this place.The location is right on the ocean. Beautiful! The location perfect half way to everything.”

The pictures online matched perfectly with the unit. Kathy was responsive throughout the entire booking process. The unit is not overly spacious, but it was just perfect for two people. The views of the beach were perfect on the lanai. I enjoyed coffee just about every morning there. The complex also has a nice pool and hot tub, which we used frequently. Both were closed for one day due to maintenance, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. The unit is right next to the Coconut Marketplace, which we walked to a lot for restaurants and to get some groceries at the corner grocery store. The location for the unit is also central for exploring both the west and north shores of the island. The only minor issue we had was with the bed. While not uncomfortable, it was very loud whenever we moved around on it.”

“Islander on the beach room 151 is a clean and adequately stocked space in a great location on Kauai just steps from the ocean. Parking and check-in were easy and the room was clean and comfortable. There are many food and shopping options within a five minute walk and many more within a five minute drive. We were able to access nearly the entirety of Kauai within a 45 minute drive North or South. The room had some beach chairs that proved useful and had easy access to a beautiful but wild beachfront only steps from the lanai. The room also has a small kitchen sink, a decent sized fridge/freezer and a well stocked cabinets. Kathy mentions in the listing that the cost of the room is able to be lower because you have to pay for room cleanings or linen exchange. This was a slight hassle, but we’re able to utilize a laundromat a few minute drive down the road to wash and dry our clothes in under an hour for less than $20. Overall, we loved our stay in this space.”

“What a beautiful, quiet location! We never heard the other guests on either side of us. We were on the ground floor and had great access out the sliding door to the walkway and the beach. Don’t expect to swim at this beach, or even build too many sand castles. The sand is coarse here and there are lava flows just under the waves. But it was a great location. Halfway between the north and south ends of the island. If you are coming and want a great location, this is it! By the way – if you want to hike or visit Haena state park or hike the Kalalau trail, you will need to get advance tickets. Like WEEKS IN ADVANCE! Also, make sure you download the Shaka Guide on your App Store. There are great little suggestions for off the beaten path locations!”

“The view and atmosphere when sitting on the lenai and looking out to the ocean is unmatched. It’s peaceful , beautiful, and absolutely the best feature. The room is a bit small so when staying for an extended time it can start to feel cluttered if not super organized all the time. The lack of a kitchen meant eating out more often but it’s not a big issue. It’s close to the airport and being directly next to the coconut marketplace is especially convenient. The second best feature is being in the resort. Since it’s a privately owned rental there’s some resort amenities you don’t get access to, like laundry(which is tough during an extended stay) and pool towels from the lobby, but the pool and spa are excellent and there is a bar at the pool which is a plus! Overall we loved the place and the atmosphere!”

“Great place on the beach, fantastic view from the Lanai! Perfect if visiting both Waimea Canyon and Ha’ena State Park as it is in the middle of the island. Extremely comfortable bed, clean unit, supplies for beach, and clear communication. Only negative is bathroom supplies. You’ll receive 4 towels, 2 hand towels and 2 wash cloths, no matter how long your stay. An extra fee is applied if more linens are needed. I would suggest getting more if you plan on hiking a lot! You will be covered in dirt, but it’s fun! Kapa’a is centered on the island allowing easy access to big attractions w/I 30-40 minutes with traffic. The town of Kapa’a offered a cute downtown with shops and eateries. I recommend Java Kai for breakfast, best breakfast bowls on the island. If visiting on a Saturday, check out the local farmers markets and get some liche! Kapa’a also hosts an arts and food night every Sat. Night, check out Little Fatties food truck, best tacos I’ve had!”

Parking a bit of a challenge at times, but always found a space. Convenient midpoint location to all the attractions on the island. Kathy was easy to work with and very responsive. The location is PERFECT in Kapa’a that is in the middle of the island and equal distance for exploration on both sides of the island. It has a mini kitchenette minus the stove top to warm up your own meals from the grocery store close by in the town village to save some money. It is an air conditioned unit nice and insulated. Pool is literally right next to the unit. For things close by, there is the coconut market village that has shops, a grocery store, and restaurants that is just a walk across the parking lot without having to drive. The receptionist are extremely helpful for locating close by services and giving you the Hawaiian welcome from the Aston Islander where the Airbnb is located. Plan to stay here again. Wifi was good, had to work some, no problems with zoom meetings. Glad to have a third-floor walk-up for some more movement. Had zero contact with property management, didn’t have any need. Keys all where they said they’d be, instructions clear. Snorkeled with turtles and various fish, right outside, imagining they were here after the quiet covid times. Hoping they stay. Please use reef-safe products, if you use any, and bring reusable bottles for water so you don’t create more ocean waste. I was worried we’d be too close to the busy roads of Kapa’a but the location was perfect – there’s a lovely beach a few steps from the condo, an excellent coffee shop a few steps in the opposite direction (that’s coming from a coffee snob living in Seattle and NYC), and the condo had everything we needed to be cozy in the evenings and during the morning rain storm we had on our last day. Our a/c remote control wasn’t working when we first arrived and Kathy and her team plus the excellent caretaker were on top of it and fixed it quickly and easily. The condo is simple but was spotless and lacking nothing. I would absolutely stay here again!”

“What an amazing place to stay for my first visit to Hawaii and the island of Kauai. The studio was right on the beach with amazing sunrise views. There is access to a swim area that acts like a tide pool. Cool way to wade in the water without dealing with the waves. Super close to access for the Wailua River, and the sleeping giant hike(both are must do’s during your stay). Also, it was very close to the coconut marketplace. This area had several restaurants and a grocery store to get pretty much all you would ever need. These stores came in handy since there was no coffee or condiments, not even salt and pepper at the condo. The condo complex has wonderful mature landscaping with many of the fruit bearing and edible plants found on Kauai. This unit is on the third floor which was reassuring for those of us with tsunami consciousness but there is no elevator. All in all, this unit was wonderful to relax in and to be our home base for all our island adventures. We’ve been to Kauai many times and this was one of our favorite vacation rentals.” -Patricia S.

“The studio sized condo is located in Kapa’a right by the beach. There is no beach view directly from the balcony but the beach is only a 2 minute walk away. Check in directions were emailed prior to arrival and there are clear instructions for how to operate the AC, cable and internet. There are a lot of dishes, silverware, and cooking utensils available but no stove or hot plate due to board regulations. Only a mini fridge and microwave are available. No laundry machine in condo and I am not sure if there’s one available for use on the property. Parking is included. Perfect place to stay if you’re going to be spending your days exploring Kauai.” -Ashley C.

“I absolutely loved the location. There was mention of there being a cooktop, but there wasn’t one in this unit. I got creative with “cooking” a little bit in the microwave for my morning eggs. It was a very beautiful property, and there is a great little restaurant just next door that you can walk to on the path directly outside of the unit. I loved seeing and hearing all the chickens, roosters, and baby chicks. I saw a monk seal resting in the sun on the beach nearby. And was able to drive to some nearby hikes that were just perfect! “The photos on Airbnb don’t do the view and location justification. The accommodations are a 4.5 out of 5. The host Kathy was very responsive, The first day after arrival we noticed that there were no beach towels. I sent Kathy a quick message and when we returned from a short outing the beach towels were hanging on the door. The resort is very low-key and relaxing everything you need is within a short walk, shops, stores restaurants and a small market where you can buy anything you need or may have forgotten. The location on the island is centrally located so if you’re into sightseeing and want to see Waimea canyon or the Nepali coast you have a short drive either way. The beach in front of the room has a great view and is accessible for swimming but no lifeguard is on duty. If you are a strong swimmer and into snorkeling some of the best snorkeling we found on the island exists just offshore right in front of the room. All in all we were extremely satisfied and will be back again. Thank you Kathy for being a great host..” – Mike D.

” Fabulous location, ocean within view of the porch & landing. We would stroll down to the beach, adjust the lawn chairs, and soak in the view and the breeze. Some afternoons, we simply put a chair on the landing, because we were too lazy to deal with sand on the beach – the view was marvelous. There’s a market and square with several restaurants & shaved ice on the other side of the parking lot. 15min to Lihue airport, 5-10min to Kapa’a (depending on traffic). Room is clean, the AC works great, bed is decent. There’s a pool (with a bar in the evenings) for those who like, and there’s maintenance & folks on hand in the main entry, all of whom are welcoming and friendly. Can’t stress enough the location – the ocean & beach are right there and gorgeous, the convenience of the market & restaurants, and the ease of getting to & from Lihue & Kapa’a. Everything was as promised, and we would definitely stay here again.”
